About

Rural painter and digital illustrator, Penny Frederick, has developed her artistic style over a number of years. Primarily producing digital works while travelling and living overseas; now back home in regional Queensland, has ventured once again into the world of producing large scale minimal paintings.

Her current series is inspired by the iconic and stunning flora and fauna our gorgeous country has to offer. The first contribution to the series is a crimson rosella, lovingly nicknamed ‘Francois’ by her family. Francois, the large linen stretched piece has found a wonderful new home. Presently 'Bruce the Goose', the large canvas and timber framed piece is sitting pride of place in their kitchen and greeted enthusiastically every morning by her toddler.

Starting out she produced scientific illustrations for publication, her work now carries that preciseness and yet minimalist approach of painting only what needs to be seen in order to inform the eye of the beholder. Vibrant swatches of acrylic paint incorporate smoothly to create a detailed piece, highlighting the unique character and important features of the subject.

Driven by her passion for accurately depicting her colourful subject, she aims to fill walls in not only her own converted warehouse home with gorgeous, vibrant and large scale works, but sharing her pieces with others creating joyful, colourful homes everywhere.
